What you need for DIY Valentine’s Day wreath

STEP 1: First, I’ll show you how to make a denim cover for the styrofoam wreath.

Cut out the thick seam out of an old jean leg and then cut it into 9” wide pieces. It is important to cut the jean across the grain to get a nice fringe on the edges later.

Stitch the short edges right side together to make a 54” long piece.

Align the short edges right side together and stitch to make a tube. Machine wash and dry. Cut off all the long threads.

Arrange the denim cover around the wreath from the inside and pin the raw edges on the outside of the wreath.

Since you have a denim-covered base for a DIY Valentine’s Day wreath, now you need to decorate it.

STEP 2: Now, let’s sew a heart cushion. For my heart I used bandana, but you are welcome to use any fabric you like.

Fold bandana in half right side together and, that the opposite corners align. Then, cut out the hearts.

Stitch the heart pieces together leaving a one-inch opening and snip notches around.

Turn the heart right side out and stuff in some fiberfill. Using the dowel, distribute the fiberfill evenly.

Hand stitch the opening closed but leave a tiny hole just for the dowel to go through.

STEP 3: To make the cupid’s arrow, first cut the dowel to 16-17 inches long.

And then, out of the adhesive felt furniture pad cut the shaft and vanes.

Follow the measurements in the picture to cut out two triangles for the shaft.

The vanes are 1” thick and 3” long. Make sure to cut mirror once from the first two you have cut.

Stick the triangles together and with the dowel make a little dent in the middle of the edge. You will hot glue the dowel in the dent later.

Also, stick two vanes pieces together and hot glue the edge to the end of the dowel.

Make a tiny cut in the side of the heart cushion, slightly higher than the dowel opening on the other side of the heart.

Slide the dowel in through the opening and hot glue the shaft to the dowel.
